We collect what we need to curate the room and run the event — nothing more. We don't sell your data, ever. You can ask us to delete everything we have at any time, and we will, within 30 days.
01 What we collect.
Doubles is a curated event business — not an ad-tech company. We collect what we need to evaluate your application, charge the right amount, get you to the venue, and follow up afterward. The full inventory is below.
Data we collect directly from you.
Data we collect automatically.
When you visit doubles.singles, we automatically receive standard server logs (IP address, user agent, referrer) and anonymized analytics. We do not use third-party advertising trackers, and we do not maintain advertising profiles. See §05 Cookies & analytics.
02 Why we collect it.
Each piece of data has a specific purpose, listed below. We don't collect anything "in case we need it later."
- Identity & contact — so we can review your application, email you a decision, and let you know when the venue address is shared.
- Professional — to confirm eligibility and curate a mix of founders, investors, and operators in the room.
- Curation notes — so we don't ask you the same questions volume after volume, and so we can curate the mix thoughtfully on the night.
- Health & access — so the kitchen can plan for your needs and the venue can welcome you in.
- Payment — to charge for the event and meet our tax obligations.
- Photos — to remember each volume, share atmosphere with the next round of applicants, and tell stories in the Doubles Dispatch.
What we'll never do.
We do not sell your data, rent it, monetize it through ads, or share it with venture capitalists, recruiters, dating apps, or any third party not strictly required to run the event.
03 Who sees it.
Three groups of people see your data, in narrow and specific ways.
The Doubles team.
Our small founding team reviews every application and sees the full record. Roughly five people, all signed to confidentiality.
Necessary service providers.
We rely on a small set of tools to run Doubles. Each has access only to the data they need for their specific function:
- Stripe — payment processing. Sees card data and amount. Card numbers are tokenized; we never see the full PAN.
- Postmark — transactional email. Sees email address and message content.
- Notion — internal application review. Sees the application content and our notes.
- Vercel — website hosting. Sees server logs only.
Each provider is independently bound by its own privacy commitments and security practices. Switching to or away from any provider is announced in the changelog at the bottom of this page.
Other Doubles guests.
Your name, role, and (optionally) social handles appear on a printed dossier shared with confirmed guests two days before the event, so people know who's in the room. We do not share email, phone, or curation notes. The dossier is collected and destroyed at the end of the night.
04 How long we keep it.
Retention windows are listed in the data table in §01. The summary:
- Most application data is kept for 2 years from your last application, so we can re-review you for future volumes without you re-doing the form.
- Health & accessibility info is deleted within 14 days of the event — it serves no purpose afterward.
- Payment records are kept for 7 years to meet IRS recordkeeping requirements. After that, they are deleted in our next quarterly purge.
- Newsletter subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe. One click does it.
What happens if I just want everything gone?
Email privacy@doubles.singles. We confirm receipt within 48 hours and complete deletion within 30 days. The only exception is payment records still inside the 7-year tax window — those we are legally required to retain.
05 Cookies & analytics.
Doubles uses one functional cookie (session) and one privacy-respecting analytics tool (Plausible). We do not use Google Analytics, advertising pixels, retargeting scripts, or third-party cookies.
Plausible is cookieless and aggregates pageviews without tracking individual users. Their privacy practices are documented at plausible.io/data-policy.
If you'd rather no analytics at all, set your browser's "Do Not Track" header — we respect it. We will also publish a self-hosted opt-out toggle once we have one we trust.
06 Your rights.
You can ask us, at any time, to:
- Show you a copy of all data we hold about you (a "subject access request"). We send it within 30 days, by encrypted email.
- Correct any field that's wrong — including curation notes we wrote about you.
- Delete your record, except payment records inside the legal retention window.
- Stop processing your data while you decide what you want — we'll pause review and outreach immediately.
- Take your data elsewhere in a portable format (JSON), if that's useful.
California residents have additional rights under the CCPA; EU/UK residents have additional rights under GDPR. We honor all of them on request, regardless of where you live — the team will do the same thing whether you cite the California Consumer Privacy Act or not.
One email handles all of this.
privacy@doubles.singles — for any request above. A founder responds personally within 48 hours. We don't use ticket systems for privacy.
07 Children & age.
Doubles is intended for adults aged 21 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has submitted information through the Site, email privacy@doubles.singles and we will delete it within seven days.
08 Contact & changes.
We update this Privacy Policy occasionally — when we change tools, retention windows, or our data practices in any material way. Material changes are emailed to current applicants and confirmed guests at least 14 days before they take effect, and recorded in the changelog below.
For any privacy question or request: privacy@doubles.singles.
